During my visit to the Indiana greenhouse, I discovered excellent, excellent pricing. If you’ve thought you couldn’t afford to put in a garden or fill those flower boxes with vivid, eye-catching blooms, you will definitely want to check this one out. I was in awe and went home with far more than I had planned on. My front porch is now officially ready for summer.

They’ve got all of the plants and flowers you would expect from an Indiana greenhouse. Wave petunias (I got mine for an excellent bargain in the first place–and it was on sale), cone flowers, bee balm, black-eyed Susans, hibiscus, peonies, candy corn plants, and who knows what else. I’m sure someone with a broader range of plant and flower knowledge can probably add to that list a bit.

But for me, I think that’s impressive enough to warrant a drive and a bit of a browse for anyone in the area who hasn’t yet meandered in, don’t you?

I have yet to tell you about the healthy-looking veggie flats. No wimpy, wilting stems or stalks here. These plants were off to a great start. Sweet potatoes, tomatoes like the early girl and big boy varieties, all the standard Hoosier garden type vegetables are here. I can almost taste summer.

This gorgeous peacock struts his stuff at Sassafras Hill Greenhouse in Rensselaer, Indiana.

If you don’t necessarily have a way with plants or don’t really care to weed a bunch of flower beds, they have really cute baskets of flowers.

Of course, there are the typical hanging baskets filled with all manner of different flowers but there’s something more here too. I love the water cans and the big metal buckets filled with blooms. It would be such a cute addition to a patio, porch, or stair.

Speaking of outdoor living spaces, you may want to pick up some of their citronella plants. It’s a great, natural way to help beat those pesky mosquitoes while adding a touch of green. It’s got to be better than huddling around the tiny flame of a citronella candle, don’t you think?

Now they even have trees and bushes. It seems as though there is something to perk up any part of a drab, ho-hum yard or boring front porch.
