Wabash County Historical Museum in Wabash, Indiana

The Wabash County Historical Museum in Wabash, Indiana is better than what you’re thinking–and bigger, too!

Let me tell you why even non-history loving folks will enjoy this Wabash County Museum. For starters, it’s not so much looking at the same sort of display multiplied by the hundreds. Nope, this one is different.

Instead, there are many interactive features and unusual displays–less glass booths and loads more creativity. You can get up close and personal to many of the items here. Don’t you just love that? It really makes history come alive! It isn’t just something you read about, it is something you can feel, touch, and consider.

For example, there’s a rope you can pull to hear a train whistle and a switch to flip to light up the Wabash County Courthouse–Wabash was the first electrically lighted city IN THE WORLD you know! There’s also a train table with a great set-up, a fossil dig, and the chance to hop onto scooters for a “tour.” It is all so clever!

The rotating monthly displays on the upper level make it even better! Well, I could go on and on about what an awesome museum this was but I’ll let you check out the video for now. It’s a small taste of what this great attraction has to share.
