The bright yellow exterior of the Amish Cheese Shop in Cambridge City, Indiana is easy to spot from the road! Just wait until you get inside. Although not owned by Amish, the owners have made it a point to stock loads of Amish-made cheeses and, more recently, other tasty, reliable brands.

It’s worked. Since 1983, this little shop has kept the area well supplied in all manner of cheeses, snacks, and even baked goods. There’s typical cheeses like cheddar, Swiss, and pepper-jack, and then there’s more unusual cheeses like Desert Fire Cheese, Vintage Habanero Cheddar, and Blueberry. Yes, blueberry. I admit that I skipped right by that one in order to sample the green onion–now that’s a great  cheese! There’s a rather large selection of snacks here that we weren’t expecting to see.

Although anyone would be a little leery of buying a bunch of cheese they’ve never even heard of, every cheese has a little cup of toothpicks so you may sample to your heart’s content. It’s an easy way to find the perfect cheeses that fit your tastes without the risk. I love that. Is there anything worse than a cheese that falls short of expectations? I didn’t think so. Visit this Wayne County shop and get your dairy on!
