But don’t worry–you wouldn’t know it was a garage anymore. It’s a surprisingly welcome spot to nab grab books for a bargain. Now this place is packed with books. As you can see in the image below, it is not an exaggeration.
Packed on shelves…and shelves…and shelves, it’s so much fun to browse this impromptu Monticello bookstore. I thought I would have to drag hubs out of there. It’s just. That. Good.
The owner is a delightful lady. She’s got plenty to say and is so very much fun. It’s obvious that she just loves this Indiana bookstore of hers–and is quite the reader herself.

No, really–she’s got quite a few classic titles (my personal faves in case you were wondering), popular titles, things you have never heard of, and children’s books! At a buck or less a book, well, it’s a steal!
Family helped Juanita M. get her start. They wanted to give her something to do to take her mind off of her grandson’s continual battle with cancer. So far–it’s worked. She is a people person who loves chatting with people and enjoys putting good books into the hands of the community…and beyond.
The friendly owner of the Used Book Exchange has only one goal: make just enough money each month to keep the power on.
