Brown County Rock Fossil Shop in Nashville, Indiana:

Brown County Rock Fossil Shop in Nashville, Indiana has a great exterior.

Although the gemstone mining operation at Copperhead Creek Gem Mine right next door (and owned by the same folks) will catch your eye. Don’t get so caught up in the fun of panning for gems, that you forget to pop inside of the retail shop. Please do step inside and poke around this fun rock shop.

When I was a kid, I started a rock collection. I believe it began in third grade. Mrs. Pettit was the best teacher in the world. She had us pick out stones and then she put them in a rock tumbler in a back, unused bedroom in her home so she wouldn’t have to hear it. After they were smooth, we got them back again. I started collecting at different shops when we would go out and about.

I remember when Amish Acres used to carry things like that back in the day, so I picked up some rocks to add to my collection there, too. I especially loved Fool’s Gold. I wish I knew what happened to my collection. Our boys would have loved it.

If you and yours have never been in a rock shop before, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. You might think it isn’t “your thing,” but I know you will enjoy it. Shelves hold a variety of rocks in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are even supposed to help with different health ailments. It’s amazing how many different varieties of rocks can be found around the world. Read the cards associated with the rocks to learn more. Fascinating stuff.

Moroccan geodes with crystal formations hidden inside are eye-catching. Peacock quartz (one of my other favorites), Mookaite hearts, Fluorite, Tiger’s Eyes, and Tourmaline are just a small sampling of the lovely rocks and minerals found inside this Brown County attraction.

Rocks and fossils of all shapes and sizes are waiting inside Brown County Rock Fossil Shop in Nashville, Indiana. Peacock Ore has always been one of my favorites.

But there’s more to be found at this Indiana rock shop. The Brown County Rock Shop also holds a range of fossils. They have some very beautiful pieces that would make a great addition to any collection. I don’t mean the little tiny fossils either.

They have marvelous, mammoth-sized fossils. Anyone who needs to round out a collection should pop in. Fortunately, some of the smaller pieces make a great non-cheesy souvenir. Our sons loved picking out a rock or small fossil to bring home. My husband, Jeremy, and I loved the reasonable prices.

Really, it’s quite incredible what you will find inside this Brown County rock shop. Fossils millions of years old, shining stones, and a neighboring 50-foot water sluice for gemstone panning. Now, does that sound fun or what?
