The Chocolate Moose in Farmland, Indiana is one of the best small town meals you’ve never had! You know it is going to be good when readers keep sending emails telling you where to go, what to order, and to get there as soon as possible. If there’s one thing I’ve learned while wandering around Indiana towns, it is that you always, always, ALWAYS listen to the locals! When they declare a place “amazing,” you better believe it will be! Even from the outside it looks really nice. An attractive paint job, outdoor seating, and an eye-catching vintage-looking sign would make anyone do a double-take. Knowing what I was in for just made me excited!
Using locally-sourced meat, you can taste the difference in the hand-packed hamburger patties or hand-breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches. The 50’s diner styling of the interior is just a fun little extra. There’s a lot of room inside the restaurant yet it manages to fill up quickly, even in this tiny town of barely 1300 people. That’s because word has certainly gotten out about what they offer–and folks drive far to experience their classic entrees.
But the focus is always on the food. Find great specials, a slew of old fashioned ice cream treats and sodas, and one of my favorites: homemade potato chips! Does it get any better than this?
