Grandma’s Old Fashioned Oatmeal Muffins Recipe

There’s just nothing thrilling about oatmeal. It’s not exactly pretty. It doesn’t ever receive the excitement that chocolate is almost guaranteed. It’s wholesome and healthy but…it’s oatmeal, ya know? But somehow, Grandma’s Old Fashioned Oatmeal Muffins Recipe was such a big, colossal hit with our two boys!

They love everything oatmeal. I know, that’s abnormal, right? It’s always been a big part of our baked goods. My Amish baked oatmeal recipe has been a part of our family for quite some time. It’s in our frequent breakfast rotation because it is just so satisfying. So, make that, and then fit these muffins in to your plan at some point as well.

Why on earth did these ugly little muffins, yes, I am sorry to say that they will not win any beauty contest, um, ever, do to win the affection of two young boys? After baking, the tops of these old fashioned oatmeal muffins formed what they called a “volcano.” It was an extra little burst of crunchy sweetness. They loved the way the “volcanoes” looked and they really liked the flavor. I know, I am shocked as well. I thought I might end up having this whole batch to myself!

These are great with a nice, tall glass of cold milk! A cup of coffee would also be a welcome addition. I’d spread these with honey butter if you have it. It would be an awesome accompaniment. From The 250 Best Muffins Recipe by Esther Brody, a must-have cookbook, and one of my favorites for a very, very long time. I can’t recommend that cookbook enough! And, I am happy to report, most of the muffins in it do end up very pretty (and tasty).
