We were on our way to The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery in Delphi, Indiana.

Why The Stone House? We wisely decided to follow the advice of every single person that we talked to that morning!

This is an awesome Carroll County building. I wish I had a better shot of the doors–tall and unusual. Step back in time, however, and you wouldn’t have entered The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery because this building was once a brothel!

I find Indiana history so interesting and especially the history of place. I wish I had more information on it than that but, unfortunately, I do not. Do you?

Anyway, back to The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery of the present! It has a really neat, long wood bar and a mirror that takes up a large chunk of the wall behind it.

Everyone was hungry, but the kid is the loudest about it (as usual). As you can see from the photos, my husband, Jeremy, had a hamburger and onion rings. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and a side of chips.

While waiting for our order we looked out the windows at the bustling folks in this small Indiana town. Of course, when food arrived, all scenery was forgotten! Yum! We were all very happy with what we chose. We can see why The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery is so popular!

But we were even more happy with the goodies we bought for the road. Remember, this is The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery!  The kid got a sugar cookie and even let me try a bite. It was excellent! Hubs had a chocolate chip cookie but I got the showstopper: A Rocky Road Brownie. Nuts and marshmallow over a layer of thick yummy, yummy brownie.

Everything was excellent. So good, in fact, that hubs and the kid both wanted to share my bakery treat. As if! The server said to eat it with a glass of milk nearby. It was fantastic and very rich.

Great food, great atmosphere, and even better dessert in super friendly Delphi, Indiana make The Stone House Restaurant and Bakery a must-go!

  1. Hi Jessica-

I came across your website recently and am really enjoying it. Today I saw your recommendation for Andy’s in Delphi – my friend and I tried going there this afternoon but they changed their hours in early April. Now they are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Since we were looking for dessert, we decided to go to the Stone House instead. (I had been there once before and enjoyed it, so I knew it was a good alternative.) We decided to get pie. Our possible choices were: coconut cream, strawberry rhubarb, raspberry crunch, apple, peach, etc. My friend got the raspberry crunch and I got the strawberry rhubarb. Of course we shared with each other. Both were outstanding!

I too would recommend the Stone House. The food, atmosphere, and quality of service are all good. I look forward to eating there again the next time I’m in town.
