Tucked between two larger buildings, The Sweet Spot Bakery and Cafe in Rossville, Indiana is just the sweetest thing!

Cute as a button, this gluten-free bakery and cafe is such an incredible downtown addition. I don’t think locals even know what a great thing is going on in here.

The term “gluten free” may be throwing a few of you off. In fact, there might be a few of you who might be thinking that “delicious” and “gluten free” could never appear in the same sentence together and certainly never be used to describe a baked good. Let me tell you, The Sweet Spot is a wonderful Clinton County bakery for EVERYONE!

Now, and I know this may surprise you, in may even be a bit shocking, but I have had a lot of cookies over the course of this little Indiana adventure. A lot a lot of cookies.

But I tell you this: the gluten-free Monster cookies at The Sweet Spot may just be my all-time favorite! They were so, so good I wanted everyone to try them! I’m pretty sure I would have made the mail carrier try one if I had caught him.

Bakery items are in abundance here: fresh baked loaves of bread, cookies like Monster (YES!), chocolate chip, and even snickerdoodle, even cupcakes. But what you won’t find are typical allergens.

This bakery isn’t someone cashing in on a new buzz word. No, the lovely owner of The Sweet Spot has a daughter that had been sick for years. Finally, someone figured out what what the trouble. It was, you guessed it, a gluten allergy!

So, this mom was on a mission to recreate her daughter’s favorite foods but in a form less damaging to her sensitive tummy. She’s spent years fine tuning and tweaking recipes that taste so good, you would swear they were  gluten-filled.

I use to live with my family at 109 Plank ST. MY husband (Charles(Pete) was the ELECTRIC SERVICE MAN there untill 1996 when he retired and we moved to Fl. My children graduated from Rossville school. My Grand Daughter (FELICE) works at this restaurant. She loves it and the people there who have become her friends. She is always on Facebook telling of the specials of the day. She is great. We love her so much. Hope when we come home to visit we can drop in and try it out.
